Spirituality in Australia

Is God dead in Australia? Are the days of the church numbered? I was quite astounded at the final response on Q & A the other week. For those not in Australia, Q & A is a interactive panel, broadcast on the public broadcaster that fields preselected questions. I usually don’t tune in.

But this last one had Jordan Peterson on it and I was interested to hear what he had to say. The final question was about belief in God. Watch and see the responses, they maybe more indicative of belief in God in Australia than we have been told to believe. From a Transgender man explaining that while he doesn’t fit into the Church (for obvious reasons) he regularly connects with God through Bible and Prayer, to a Marxist proclaiming her belief in God through the Church.

Far from God being dead in Australia, and the supposed rise in Atheism, there remains a real spirituality that lingers under the surface.

With the decline in the Church, the media in Australia is keen to join with Nietzsche to proclaim ‘God is Dead’. Far from God being dead in Australia, and the supposed rise in Atheism, there remains a real spirituality that lingers under the surface. We have found that while people have walked away from the institutional Church, many are still trying to connect with God. This is exactly what we focus on in Praxeis. We exist for those who would not go to church and yet long to know God. This gives me great hope for our nation!
