Steve grew up amid the lush, steamy jungles of Western Province, Papua New Guinea. After moving to Australia, he and his wife, Mel, became passionate disciple-makers with Praxeis in far North Queensland. But God had a bigger plan—calling Steve back to the very place where his journey began.
During a visit to a remote village, Steve connected with a local pastor eager to learn. He trained him in facilitating a Discovery Group—a simple, transformative way to explore God’s Word. Inspired, the pastor immediately gathered 47 men from the community, men who were outside the church but hungry to learn about God.
A week later, the pastor paddled four hours upstream to share the incredible news with Steve: the group had embraced the discovery process and was deeply moved by it. Encouraged, Steve challenged the pastor to empower these men to take the discovery process back to their families.
What started as a small spark grew into a wildfire of faith. By early 2024, this movement had led to the baptism of over 7,000 men, women, and children—each transformed by encountering God through the discovery process. And the journey continues…
