Simple and reproducible

One of the things we love about disciple making is that it is simple.
Simple enough for anyone of us to do.

Last week we were so encouraged by this story from a nation where it is very difficult to be a follower of Jesus, where persecution abounds and disciple-making is spreading virally.

“I live in a small village. I believe in God and have joined the church in our village. I have a family and run a small chicken shop, and by God’s grace, it’s doing well.
Some time ago, a friend from my childhood started visiting us often. He now lives in another village, but his family is still here. One time when he visited, he introduced our family to something new: it was Discovery Bible Study (DBS).
We started doing DBS with him as a family. As we read God’s Word and talked about things and difficulties in our lives, something truly changed within me. I used to think that sharing the Gospel was only for pastors. But through DBS, I understood that ordinary people like me can also know God deeply, live according to His word, and share that message with others.

I started praying to God about how I could help others. Many people come to my shop every day, so I started praying for someone who would be interested in listening to God’s word. One man came and told me he had many financial problems. I kept praying for him, and after some time, his difficulties began to resolve. When he thanked me, I told him about DBS  – I explained how we read the Bible, share our lives, and pray for each other.
God opened a door! For the past five months, we have been meeting at his house every Saturday. It has been a good time to learn new things, pray, and transform lives—not just for him, but it has been very helpful for me too.
Please pray for us—I want us to understand God’s truth even better, and for many more homes in our village to be opened for DBS.”

This is what a grassroots movement looks like. It reminds us that God includes us all in His vision to make disciples. His vision is for everyone, everywhere (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus’ vision is both simple and reproducible.

We’d encourage you to ask yourself this question: ‘What is my part to play in God’s big vision as He calls us all to make disciples who multiply through the great commission?’.
