In the lead up to Easter this year, some of our university team in Melbourne met Edward, a student from Hong Kong. Whilst having lunch with us, we discovered he was a person of peace. He was already sharing his faith with other classmates who were asking him lots of spiritual questions. Soon Edward invited more classmates to join for lunchtime spiritual conversations. For the remainder of the semester, the team have been helping Edward facilitate a lunchtime Discovery Bible Study (DBS).
Originally encountering Jesus as a teenager, Edward hasn’t been part of a church for a number of years. These days he is starting to join our young adult discipling community, seeking to become a disciple maker with others carrying a similar vision.
People of peace are everywhere. They are asking and many like Edward are already answering people’s spiritual questions as they study, work or play together. They just need a little help to look ‘Up, In and Out‘, as Floyd McClung once said, as they gather.
Floyd McClung described the DBS as easy as ABC or looking…
Up: praying for each other, giving up our worship and confessing to each other how we are doing, turning it to the Lord.
In: taking in the Word of God and letting it speak to our lives
Out: looking out as we seek to obey and share God’s Word with others
