Myanmar – A Nation in Need, a Church in Motion

In the heart of Myanmar, a nation long marked by conflict, there are still places where the message of Jesus has barely been heard. Among the 59 unreached people groups is the Intha—over 100,000 people living across floating villages on Inle Lake. Their homes rise from the water, their lives shaped by its rhythms, yet many have never encountered the hope of the gospel.

Recently, earthquakes caused widespread damage, and many Intha homes collapsed, adding to the challenges they already face. In the midst of this, a quiet work is unfolding.

A visionary leader named Aung has been re-imagining what church can look like. He realised that traditional methods weren’t enough for the magnitude of the task. Over recent years he has intentionally shifted his church from a traditional Sunday service to a disciple making hub. He is now multiplying disciples—small communities carrying the message of Jesus into places it has never gone. Today, his team is engaging with 10 unreached groups, including the Intha, trusting God for a movement that will spread from village to village across the water.

This is a critical moment for Myanmar.

As Aung said to us recenlty, “If you were ever going to pray for Myanmar, it would be now!”

Join us in praying the unreached in Myanmar, those like the Intha—that they would encounter Jesus for the first time. Pray for strength and protection for those making disciples in the midst of unrest. And pray that Myanmar’s future would be shaped not by conflict, but by the transforming hope of Christ.

  • As seen in Myanmar, church is not built around a service, but forms and multiplies wherever disciples gather and go with the mission of Jesus.
