Praxeis Internship

Vision & Purpose

An internship with Praxeis is an invitation into a way of life. Not a program to complete, but a lifestyle to step into—following Jesus in the ordinary rhythms of everyday life, in community, on mission. This internship exists to form and send disciple-makers who live deeply with Jesus—grounded in prayer, shaped by His Word, and integrated into real life with others. The heart is simple: that what is learned here can be lived anywhere.

The Heart of the Internship

At its core, this internship is about life with Jesus shared with others. It is intentionally not program-heavy. Instead, it reflects the quiet, faithful, and often unseen ways that disciple-making happens in real life – over meals, in homes, work/study places, neighbourhoods and friendships. Interns are invited into communities that are learning to live this out together.

Think community learning and growing together as we pursue wholehearted living for Jesus and His Kingdom—being shaped by God and passing on what we receive to others.

Community & Everyday Mission

Interns will be part of a disciple-making community, not simply attending activities but sharing life with others. This includes rhythms of prayer and Scripture together, life-on-life relationships, stepping into ordinary mission opportunities and learning to be comfortable with the “messiness” of real community. There is also opportunity to “taste and see” different contexts, joining others across Melbourne and beyond who are living this out in diverse ways. These may include local multicultural communities, university environments and other creative spaces. Also interstate and cross-cultural contexts (Indigenous Australians). And potential exposure to wider Praxeis connections (Australia, New Zealand, and beyond).

Training & Formation

Alongside everyday life, interns will be part of a broader training environment. This includes:

  • Structured training rhythms
  • Being in the Word together, reflecting and responding in obedience
  • Learning alongside others seeking to grow as disciple-makers

The focus is the integration of life and mission, while still working and/or studying.

Practically, training includes discovery-based Bible engagement, prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit, learning to have spiritual conversations and engaging in mission in natural, everyday ways. This training is not just for interns, but part of a wider community being equipped together.

Coaching & Support

Each intern will have a dedicated coach who walks alongside them more intentionally. This includes a weekly coaching rhythm that includespersonal encouragement, input, and accountability whilst shaping the internship around the intern’s growth and desires. This relationship is key—more personal and consistent than the broader exposures to different communities and contexts.

Rhythms & Expectations

The internship is designed to reflect real life. While flexible and tailored, a typical rhythm may include:

  • Part-time work or study (2–3 days/week)
  • Weekly coaching and regular training gatherings
  • Active participation in community life
  • Involvement in local expressions of disciple-making

Rather than fitting into a fixed program, the internship is shaped around the individual—asking ‘What is God stirring in you? What do you want to grow in?’. From there, rhythms and opportunities are formed to support this.

Structure & Timing (Example)

To help build healthy rhythm and momentum:

  • Initial 3-6 months: Based primarily in one community to help establish rhythms of work/study and shared life.
  • Following period: Opportunity to “taste and see” other communities and contexts as a broader exposure across different expressions of disciple-making.

Interns may experience both those serving in a full-time capacity, and those living this out bi-vocationally.

Outcome

Our hope is that each intern would:

  • grow in a deep, personal life with Jesus
  • be formed through prayer, Scripture, and community
  • gain confidence in living and sharing their faith naturally
  • carry a reproducible, everyday disciple-making lifestyle

The Invitation

To follow Jesus in everyday life.
To be formed in community.
To step into mission—naturally and faithfully.

And to discover a way of life that can be lived anywhere.
