IGNITE: Semester 2, 2026 | Disciple-Making Training Cohort

Vision

‘Ignite’ is a practical training cohort for people who want to be equipped as disciple-makers and grow in the core DNA and practices of Disciple Making Movements (DMM).

Who Is This For?

This training is designed for:

  • Young Adults (18-35 year olds)
  • University students 
  • Other emerging leaders with a heart to make disciples who make disciples

Participants will learn and apply simple, biblical practices that help them:

  • Develop a harvest-focused prayer life
  • Engage in spiritual conversations: shifting from traditional evangelism methods to building discipling relationships. 
  • Find and invest in ‘people of peace’ (inside leaders within a community)
  • Start Discovery Bible Study (DBS) groups
  • Empower others to multiply

We are seeking to form a small group that will provide: 

  • Mutual encouragement
  • Shared learning
  • Accountability
  • Coaching support
  • And a community of practice

Training Outcomes

By the end of the training, participants will:

  1. Understand the biblical foundations and key principles of DMM.
  2. Establish regular rhythms of prayer focused on the harvest.
  3. Grow in confidence to initiate spiritual conversations. 
  4. Identify and build discipling relationships with ‘people of peace’ (inside leaders).
  5. Facilitate Discovery Bible Studies.
  6. Disciple others toward obedience and multiplication.
  7. Discern and pursue the unique people and places God is calling them to invest in for disciple-making (their personal “who” and “where”).

Core Training Modules:

1. Scripture Engagement

Participants will engage deeply with Scripture using:

  • Four Column Bible Studies
  • Discovery Bible Study (DBS)

Additional resources may include:

  • Articles and short readings
  • Video training sessions
  • Reflection questions

2. Pray

Developing a vibrant prayer life and prayer team focused on the harvest.

Topics include:

  • Praying for the lost
  • Prayer walking
  • Building a prayer support team

3. Go

Growing in confidence to start spiritual conversations and connect meaningfully with people. To shift from more traditional methods of evangelism and engage in discipling relationships with those who are spiritually hungry and open to learning how to share with others. 

Topics include:

  • Finding legitimate ways to connect with communities (e.g. through Access Ministries and other relational opportunities)
  • Building genuine love and curiosity for people 
  • Moving from Casual → Meaningful → Spiritual → Discovery conversations
  • Recognising ‘people of peace’.

4. Disciple

Creating spaces where people can encounter Scripture, hear from God and obey.

Topics include:

  • Starting DBS groups
  • Facilitating rather than teaching
  • Encouraging obedience-based discipleship

5. Multiply

Equipping new disciples to make disciples from the beginning.

Topics include:

  • Reproducible practices
  • Empowerment of others
  • Leadership development

6. Coaching and Community

Participants will meet regularly to:

  • Share stories and testimonies
  • Celebrate wins
  • Troubleshoot challenges
  • Pray for one another
  • Set next steps

Schedule

Duration: August – October 2026 (3 months)

Rhythm: A fortnightly cycle alternating between training and implementation.

Week A – Training Session

  • Biblical input
  • Practical equipping
  • Discussion and prayer
  • Action commitments

Week B – Implementation and Coaching

  • Put learning into practice
  • Check in and receive encouragement and support by a coach

This rhythm allows participants to immediately apply what they are learning.

Possible Meeting Times

  • Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays
  • 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

(The final schedule will be determined based on participant availability.)

Commitment Expectations

Participants are expected to commit to:

  • Attending training sessions
  • Completing readings and reflection activities
  • Practicing disciple-making during implementation weeks
  • Participating actively in coaching and prayer
  • Support other cohort members

Summary

Ignite is a three-month practical training cohort designed to equip a small group of emerging disciple-makers in the core practices and DNA of Disciple Making Movements.

Through Scripture engagement, prayer, implementation, and coaching, participants will be equipped to:

  • Pray for the harvest
  • Engage spiritually with others
  • Disciple people toward obedience (by starting Discovery Bible Studies)
  • Start to multiply disciple-makers

Goal: To develop confident disciple-makers who help start multiplying movements of disciples of Jesus.
