Join us for a key Movement Leaders Gathering with Roy Moran and Dr. Aila Tasse. This weekend is designed specifically for experienced leaders who are actively seeking to lead, sustain, and multiply Disciple Making Movements (DMM).
This gathering will be a strategic leadership space with Roy and Aila sharing key insights from decades of experience in launching and guiding movements. Together, we will explore the leadership challenges, breakthroughs, and dynamics required to see sustainable movements flourish.

Why Attend?
This is a rare opportunity to engage with two of the world’s leading voices in movement leadership:
- Roy will unpack how leaders can catalyse and sustain movements in Western contexts, helping navigate the tension between traditional church structures and movement strategies.
- Aila will provide deep insights into movement leadership dynamics, including overcoming cultural barriers, developing indigenous leadership, and fostering long-term disciple multiplication.
This will be a focused gathering for leaders carrying a broad vision for DMM. It is designed for those who are already engaged in movement work and want to sharpen their leadership capacity.
Logistics
We will begin on Friday 24th October at 6pm with dinner together. The weekend will then wrap up following lunch on Sunday 26th at 2pm.
CYC City will be our hosts for the weekend. CYC City is located at 538 Collins Street, Melbourne CBD, VIC 3000

Arriving early
Our venue is available from 9am on the Friday. If you are arriving early, you are welcome to drop off your bags. Then you can have the day to go and explore some of the sights of Melbourne CBD. Meals won’t be available at the venue during the day so you will have to find food off-site.
From 4pm you can find your room and get settled in.
Staying an extra night on Sunday 26th October
If you need to stay an extra night as you are catching a flight on the Monday 27th October you are welcome to at the extra cost of $85. Guests just need to have left by 9am and there is no breakfast served on the Monday morning.
Day rate
You are welcome to come in each day and travel home each night of the weekend. The day rate of $199 per person for the weekend which includes all meals but no accommodation.
Travelling to CYC and Parking in the City
CYC is in the heart of Melbourne, 538 Collins Street. The entrance is on the street and then catch the lift up to the 1st floor where someone will greet you.
For locals, the best way to get there is by catching a train to Southern Cross station and then walking 5 minutes to the building.
For those who are flying in, you can either catch the SkyBus from the airport to Southern Cross station and then walk to the venue or grab a taxi directly to 538 Collins Street.
As we are gathering in the CBD, parking can be limited. The closest secure car park is 522 Flinders Lane and it costs approximately $50 per day (and you can leave your car overnight). The casino also has long term parking but it is a little further to walk.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
There are different rooms catering for twin share and couples, as well as dorm-share.
Each room has an ensuite and also a reverse cycle heating/cooling system (great for Melbourne where we can have all 4 seasons in one day!).
There is limited availability for individual rooms however these will be slightly more expensive and will be reserved for those with special needs. Please let vicki.stokes@praxeis.org know if you need a room to yourself.

Some people might prefer to stay offsite in alternative accommodation or for those who live in Melbourne, you might want to sleep in your own bed. This is fine by us. When you register for the Launch, simply register for an All-Day ticket which covers all your meals at CYC city without the accommodation.
For those staying onsite all linen is included.
Are meals included?
All meals are included in the registration cost of the gathering with a fully catered breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
If you have any dietary requirements, please make sure that you advise us of this in the registration process.
How much is the ‘Movement Leaders Gathering Weekend’?
Adult All Weekend ticket – from $290
For individuals attending the weekend, including accommodation and all meals.
Adult All Day ticket – from $199
For those who are staying offsite but joining us for all meals (except breakfasts).
Registration & Application: This is a limited-space gathering for leaders committed to catalysing movements. To express interest, you must be recommended by a leader.

Roy Moran

A pioneer in adapting Disciple Making Movements to Western contexts, Roy is a leading voice in integrating movement principles into regions where traditional church models have dominated. As Chairman of the Board for New Generations, Roy has been at the forefront of movement growth in North Africa and the US. His book, Spent Matches, challenges conventional church growth models and advocates for obedience-based discipleship and reproducible movement strategies.
Roy provides key strategic perspectives including:
- The leadership shifts required to sustain movements in the West
- Navigating the tension between traditional church and DMM
- Lessons from global movements and how they apply to our context
Dr Aila Tasse

Aila is the founder and president of Lifeway Mission International, a movement leader whose pioneering work has led to 69 movements, 6,000+ churches planted, and 135,000+ new disciples in East Africa. His book, Cabbages in the Desert, tells the story of his transformation from a devout Muslim to a catalytic leader in global movements.
Aila’s leadership journey offers valuable insights including:
- Keys to sustaining leadership in DMM movements
- How to identify and develop indigenous movement leaders
- Strategies for overcoming barriers to movement growth
