What is Tribe Time?

Tribe Time is our annual Praxeis gathering. It’s when we all come together from around the globe for a few days and hang out as a tribe. We get to see each other face to face, pray together, learn from each other and inspire each other to keep making disciples wherever we are.

For those of us who have been involved with Praxeis for a while, it is great to see each other, be refreshed, encouraged and sharpen our vision.

For those new to Disciple-Making Movements (DMM) or just wondering what DMM and Praxeis is all about, this is a great space to get to know us and get some insight.

Since we haven’t been able to gather like this for the last couple of years, we are really looking forward to Tribe Time this year. Our hosts will be the Greenhills Centre in the outer Canberra suburb of Stromlo, situated on the Murrumbidgee River and overlooking the beautiful Cotter Valley.

This is a time for all who want to be equipped to make disciples that multiply. To gather with like-minded people and learn from one another. Whether you are stepping out and starting Discovery groups with your friends and family, or you are a Church pastor wanting to help your church to reach their networks, Tribe Time is a great space to connect with others making disciples, and to catch the vision and DNA of making disciple in your context.

Our heart is that this week is accessible to everyone who would like to be a part of it. We are working hard to make this happen. If you have any special needs or queries, please email [email protected] to see how we can support you to attend Tribe Time.

Details in-depth

Arrive Friday 23rd September 2022 anytime from 5pm – depart Tuesday 27th September at 1pm.

This weekend is in the middle of the school holidays for Victoria and Queensland and at the beginning of the holidays for most of the other Australian states (except for SA and TAS).

Our venue is available from 3pm the Friday. If you are arriving early, you are welcome to drop off your bags and settle in. Then you can have the day to go and explore some of the sights of Canberra. (Meals won’t be available at the venue during the day so you will have to find food off-site).

From 5pm you can find your room and get settled in. We will then meet for dinner at 6pm, with our first session at 7.30pm.

We will wrap up Tribe Time with our final session in the morning on Tuesday 11th and depart the Greenhills centre at 1pm (Before lunch).

Where is Tribe Time and how do we get there?

We will be staying at the Greenhills Centre in Stromlo, ACT. (MAP)
Greenhills is located approximately 10 minutes’ drive from Canberra city and 30mins drive from the Airport.

The venue cannot be reached by public transport, so transport from the airport is required. Car pooling with others in a hire car is a good option. Alternatively, let us know your arrival time and we might be able to organise lifts from the airport.

We expect that many of you will be driving to the campsite this year. There is plenty of parking at the venue for your cars.

What will we do at Tribe Time?

Our time will be spent doing what we at Praxeis love to do!

Teaching, praying, worshiping God, listening to what God has to say to the Praxeis community, hanging out, resting, recreational activities, eating… and time around the campfire.

It won’t be jam-packed with activities but rather designed to give everyone space to chill-out and catch-up with one another over a coffee.

Where will we sleep?

The accommodation is all dormitory style rooms. Each room has an ensuite and heating/cooling. All rooms are a small walk to the meeting room and dining hall.

Some people might prefer to stay offsite in alternative accommodation. This is fine by us. When you register for Tribe Time, simply register for an All-Day ticket which covers all your meals at Greenhills without the accommodation.

Unfortunately there is no camping available at Greenhills however there is a campground, Cotter Campground, nearby (about 5mins drive) where you can park your van or pitch a tent. This is an unpowered site but there are showers, toilets, wash-up facilities and BBQS onsite. This will need to be booked online prior to your stay.

For those staying onsite, a blanket and pillow are supplied. If you would like linen included, it is $17 per person and includes 2 x sheets, pillowcase and towel. Choose the Linen Package option when you register.

Please note that the average temperature will be 4c (61f) minimums at night and around 16c (72f) during the day. Often cold at night and early morning but beautiful when the sun is out during the day. Make sure that you bring appropriate bedding and clothing!

Can I bring my family?

Yes – bring them! Our kids love Tribe time.

For 2022, we are planning a kids discipleship program to run in parallel to the group sessions. Whilst parents are ultimately responsible for their children, this kids program will give more space for the parents to focus on the main sessions. Stay tuned for more details.

The venue has plenty of space for the kids to run around and burn their energy! There is also a games room that will be available for the kids and teenagers.

What will we eat?

All meals are included in the registration cost of the camp with a fully catered breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

If you have any food allergies, please make sure that you advise us of this in the registration process.

What should we bring?
  • Bible
  • Journal/Pen
  • Recreation activities – cards, games, books. Whatever you like to do with others!
  • Warm clothes – hopefully, the days will be quite mild and a t-shirt might suffice but the evenings will be cold, so make sure you pack some warm clothes.
  • Raincoat Sunscreen/Hat.
  • Sleeping bag/linen and bath towel (if you aren’t purchasing a linen pack)
